Do you believe in the magic? Of self help.

Without realising it, we are weaned on self help books very early in life. We were told fairy tales, the inevitable fight of good vs evil, the heroes, villains and princesses, the Quest. The original versions were much darker than the Disney enhanced delights of today. They gave kids nightmares, taught them lessons the hard way. But they all have the same thing in common. The search for hope, truth, overcoming and finding something bigger out there.

I loved the magic of fairy tales and still do and I am finding it in every good self help book I read. I believe that magic /wishes/ intentions materialise if you give practiced focus and a lifetime of learning.

Here is a list of the most influential philosophers, scientists, teachers and wise people that have made an impact on my life.

Bruce Lipton (Biologist) “A persons health isn’t generally a reflection of genes, but how their environment is influencing them. Genes are the direct cause of less than 1% of diseases. 99% is how we respond to the world”.

Deepak Chopra (Philosopher) “Ultimate spiritual awareness unfolds when you’re flexible, when you are spontaneous, when you are detached, when you are easy on yourself and easy on others”

Eckhart Tolle (Philosopher) “Realise deeply that the present moment is all you will ever have. Make the now the primary focus of your life”

Susun Weed (Herbalist, Wise Woman) “My goal in life is to get as old as I possible can, to have as much fun as I possibly can and then die”

Wayne Dyer (Philosopher) “Stop acting as if life is a rehersal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed”

Louise Hay (Author) “Every thought we think is creating our future”

Anthony Robbins (Life coach) “If you do what you’ve always done, You will get what you’ve always gotten”

Clarissa Pinkola Estes (Author) “Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman but she is an endangered species”

Carl Jung (Psychiatrist, psychoanalyst) ” Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakes”

Buttoneers. Who has inspired you on your Quest? There is still a ton of self help books out there that we need to get through!
